Nice. Here are some other things that need attention

  • 壳 has an 一 ground component when it should not
  • 荡 has DISH component instead of FLOWER component
  • 衰 has a ROD component instead of an 一 ground component
  • 嘱 is missing a 口 mouth component
  • 俊 has an 儿 legs component when it should not

Thanks for the report! The fixes for these will go out in the next update.

Thanks for the update!

In the coming year or so ahead should we expect to see a good amount of additional characters added? Or is the focus right now to focus on the addition of words to ensure good coverage for the existing characters?

Yeah right now I am focused on getting ~2 words per HSK character. At the current rate, I expect to be done near end of this year, if not a bit after.

After that, it will be some combination of:

  • Adding as many HSK 1-6 words as possible. This should be done at a much faster rate than adding words on the first full-coverage pass for a variety of reasons.
  • Adding more characters, aiming for ~4k or so initially.
  • Touching up the character, components, and words that were added a while ago.

For characters we already have ~3.9k on the traditional course, a large portion of which could probably be easily ported over to the simplified course as well (which currently has ~3.2k). I’ll have to look into that once the word coverage progresses a bit more.

That makes a lot of sense! I’m probably about a year out from completing all of the current curriculum so not in a huge rush to add any more just wondering what the character coverage is going to look like at some point. I’ve heard that somewhere in the 5000 character range covers most daily reading but I’m sure there’s always going to be one or to characters I’ll need to learn on the fly.

Appreciate the resonse!
