Here goes my attempt to learn the language. One of my 2026 new year resolutions, nearing a month here now since starting HH, I guess - I hope - I pray - it’s safe to say it’s not one of those new year resolutions where I quickly lost interest with.
Why Chinese?
My addiction was actually with Japanese. I have reached a good level where I can converse well in the language, read mangas, sing karaoke’s song in Japanese. Cherry on top, 2 years ago I took N3 and passed with flying colors. Do I use it everyday? No. Am I living in Japan? No. Travels aside, do I think I’ll be able to use it in the near future? No. But I really ![]()

it though. Did I mentioned I used WaniKani?
Then comes Mandarin where it’s a yes, yes (Singapore), and resounding yes. I don’t really need it on my daily living needs. Looking back, I always wished I had an opportunity to live in Japan so I can fully immerse myself in the language. In the meantime I was ignoring where I am and what I currently have, I’m in a good environment where I can immerse myself in the Chinese language which logically speaking might equate to faster acquisition of it. So there goes the start of this journey!
