I’m loving the site so far, but wondering if there is any plans to introduce a feature where users can see how many reviews they have done each day? I think this kind of statistic would be useful for keeping users’ motivation high.
It’s a possibility! I think the main benefit is that it’s a proxy to maintaining a streak, especially in the case of a heatmap. A bummer is when you do miss your streak and you’re forever taunted with that empty tile though (not that I’m speaking from personal experience… )
I was concerned on how a heatmap would look on mobile, but looking at GitHub’s it does look pretty manageable.
Though having a “streak” where it’s a solid number and prominently displayed on the Dashboard may help more in motivation, maybe
Thanks for the feedback!
Thank you for the reply!
Personally I don’t like the Duolingo-like focus on streaks because of the same thing you mention with the empty tile, but having a log of all the previous work I put in feels motivating to me. Could be a stats page with reviews/lessons per week/month as well, not just days?
I hate streaks for exactly this reason. It can be incredibly demotivating when lost, and at some point it WILL be lost - so it’s like this guaranteed failure point in future. I also question people with those 1,000 day streaks - like you were studying when you had a high fever? Or on that family vacation? That’s not healthy, and is not the flex Reddit thinks it is.
What I’ve found incredibly motivating though is % of days studied in the last month (rolling 30 days). I will always take days off when I’m sick or big events etc so I don’t ever have streaks past like 60-90 days. Life happens. However if you’re just striving for “over 90% in last 30 days” one day off doesn’t matter. Hell even tracking 100% in last 30 you can get back pretty easily. Helps keep me motivated and on track, but never in a demotivating way if I lose it. I can maintain 90% in last 30 days and still get sick or take NYE/Xmas off without worry. And that time I did take 2 weeks off with my family, getting back above 90% study was kinda fun as I watched the missed days disappear, rather than demotivating.
So yeah I don’t want streak counters. But I would love heat map and % studied in last 30 days.
