For absolute beginners on this platform
Getting started
- Starting slow (for example, around 5 items per day) can be a great way to get used to the learning method and rhythm of the platform.
- After a few weeks, some people find it helpful to gradually increase the number of new items, maybe moving from 5 to 10, then 15 over time. Often your brain has already adapted to the routine, so a small increase may feel more manageable than expected.
- If reviews start piling up or you notice you’re getting many items wrong, it can help to pause new items for a week or two and focus on consolidating what you’ve learned. Once things feel more comfortable again, you can ease back into learning new material.
For everyone
Some habits that many learners find useful:
- Helpful: writing new items by hand (paper, tablet, etc.) when you first encounter them
- Often useful: writing down items you get wrong during reviews
- Optional extra practice: writing down items even when you get them right
Writing things out can reinforce memory for some learners, but everyone finds their own system that works best.
