Is there a way to skip beginning and end sounds?

Hey there,

New user here, deciding if this is how I want to learn characters long term. I have studied before, and am aware of all the sounds already. Is there a way to permanently skip the sound parts on all characters (e.g. y for yoshi)? I’m looking for a way to just have it quiz meaning and pinyin (e.g. yin3) to move on to the next character. I understand these are important parts of learning, but it is a lot of time and screens wasted on me. I have skipped to HSK3 to see if these get removed, but they are still there. Does this go away eventually? If not, is there a similar program or method that has you learn this way? I like the format and graphics Hanzi Hero a lot, but don’t want to spend 75% typing the beginnings or endings, I would rather just do the pinyin and tone and move on.

Thanks for your time!

Welcome!

You can skip the sounds within your lesson by clicking the :fast_forward: icon in the top left when it shows up in your lessons (the one next to the home icon). I noticed our lessons docs shows the old flow making this a bit hard to know from the docs alone, but here is a gif that at least has a picture of the sound as it shows up in the lesson and the little icon in the top right that you can press to skip it.

Alternatively, you can go to each sound page ahead of time and click the same :fast_forward: icon in the top-right to skip it ahead of time before it even shows up in your lessons. This latter approach we outline a bit in one of our documentation pages.

Hope that helps!
