Preface: this does not affect the learning experience!
I think it’d be really useful if there were a multi-select option on the curriculum page. I come on here having studied Chinese at university for 3 years, but only practicing rarely for the next three years. As such, the characters and words I know on here are very mixed (either randomly knowing some more advanced or having forgotten some easier stuff).
Having to open tens (or even over a hundred) characters’ or words’ individual tabs to skip or unskip is a little tedious. If it were possible to select multiple characters, words, components and set them all as “skip” or “don’t skip” or even “prioritize”, that’d be really cool.
Another reason why this might change is as I’m practicing Chinese on the side, I may already be becoming familiar with more characters and words, so being able to more easily skip those when I look through the curriculum again in the future would be cool.
What’s the reason for wanting do it all at once up front? Since they’ve added the skip button to the lesson screens, it’s now trivial to skip as/when needed. Personally I just do the lessons as normal, and if anything I don’t want to learns hows up just skip it right then. It’s just one click and done. No need to scroll through everything trying to find things to skip etc.
Having a combine list could be cool for a variety of reasons, but it’s going to be hundreds or thousands of items long depending on your level - trying to read through that and manually spot items you know is always going to be terrible and highly error prone.
For me, I guess I like going through and seeing what I have and have not skipped all at once. So then seeing a ton of characters or words that I already know, I’d like to be able to skip them all at once rather than wait until it pops up in a lesson. I know the request isn’t a major feature in terms of improving the user experience, but it’s just something that I thought of a few times while scrolling through the curriculum.
Question for you (or for @admin), does skipping during a lesson allow your to still learn up to you set limit for the day, or do the items that you skipped during your lesson batch count toward the lesson limit for the day?
Skipping during a lesson does not count against your daily total. You can skip as much as you want during a lesson and it’ll just keep throwing things at you until you reach your total of items actually added to your queue. No downside to doing it in a lesson (apart from curriculum screens obviously not being up to date for future items you haven’t hit yet).
I’d also like more ways to specify if I know something or not, and if I know something it would be great if it can still be somehow incorporated in the SRS because I may forget. Skipped seems to imply I don’t want to learn it, but I kind of want it to mean ‘skip learning’ 'already know.
Ooo I totally get what you mean, there are a few words/characters that I feel this, since my background in Chinese is, again, super mixed. However I think unskipping it to just include it in the next day’s lesson batch isn’t too terrible. Pandanese’s SRS was a nightmare, I think Hanzihero is way more realistic for timing and learning. Since you know the word or character already, you’ll get it up to journeyman relatively quickly.
