Feature Request: Review Order Settings Crossover

Right now “Review Order” is a single dropdown, you can pick Random, Sounds, Components, Characters, Words, Oldest first, Newest first, Easiest first, or Hardest first, but only one at a time.

Would love the ability to combine one option from each of these two groups:

Sequencing method/How to sequence (how items are grouped/ordered conceptually):

  • Random
  • Sounds, Components, Characters, Words

Priority order/What to prioritize (which items come first within that sequencing):

  • Oldest first
  • Newest first
  • Easiest first
  • Hardest first

So I could do Sounds, Components, Characters, Words + Oldest first at the same time. Obviously some combos within the same group wouldn’t make sense together (Oldest + Newest, for instance), but across the two groups it’d be great.

Why I want this: reviewing “Oldest first” alone is great, but it means a character and the word that contains it often show up back-to-back, which makes the word review feel a little like cheating  since the character answer is right there. Adding the Sounds, Components, Characters, Words ordering on top would space those out while keeping the oldest-first priority.

Totally get this might mean reworking the settings UI (single dropdown → two selects), so no worries if it’s not a quick win, just thought it’d be a nice-to-have!

I do think more granuality with the Review Order would be a welcome change!

The hard part is conveying how it is ordered. So I suppose in your case the idea is to sort each item type group? e.g. All sounds first, from Oldest to Newest, then all Components first, from oldest to newest, etc?

Yes, exactly! So, the first option Sequencing method/How to sequence is whether or not to group by Sounds, Components, Characters, Words, and then Priority order/What to prioritize is what sorting method to apply to all if random, to group if by type.
