Some others have shown their progress once they go through the initial learning stage of everything. I thought doing the same might be helpful along with a few things I saw.
You can see that I started in early 2024 and finished learning all characters and words presently available a little less than two years later in November 2025. Had I kept going at my mostly normal pace of 10/day, I would have finished at the end of February 2026, but, frankly wanted to push through and move on to having more time in my day to put to use the characters/words I’ve learned through reading/watching videos. So, I initially pushed up to the 40/day max. I did that for 3 weeks and then realized I could change the time zone at night to jump forward a day and “trick” the program to letting me learn 80/day. It was impossible to do this more than once, so 80/day is the true max. I did that for around a week and that got me through all the characters/words. It was a rough month, but worth it.
It’s been about two weeks since I learned the last word. My daily lessons dropped from 360 to 187 today. I’ve been keeping track of the 10-day outward view of lessons. Initially, as my recent 80/day lessons cycled through, each day, as I completed that day’s reviews, over 200 reviews would get added to the next ten days, but today it was only 30 that were added over the next ten days. This makes sense as I’ve virtually gotten everything out of Novice and am moving most out from Apprentice to Journeyman. In case it’s helpful, today’s distribution count is:
I greatly look forward to when it’s all in Journeyman and then Expert so my reviews are (hopefully) under 100 day and I can really put in the time to use what I’ve learned to be a true Hanzi Hero. Given the lesson timing, I think it’ll probably be two-plus years before everything finds its way to Master, but that’s okay. I’m patient.
