Choppy audio clips and other errors

Hey, here are some bugs I came across recently.
Every bug is from the simplified Chinese course and I tested most bugs in Firefox, a second Chrome-based browser and on my phone.

  • choppy audio for 外来
  • choppy audio for 凹
  • choppy audio for 女
  • example sentence for 外人 missing an ‘a’:
    • “I’m not a stranger.” instead of “I’m not stanger.”
  • the audio for 怀 is a bit bad compared to other audio clips
  • for 舷 the audio is also a bit bad

Are all the audio clips generated with a TTS? Is it even useful to point out audio errors or will all the audio clips be regenerated anyway when you get to it?

Welcome to the forum!

Correct, they’re all generated with TTS

It’s useful :+1: we can try to regenerate the audio which doesn’t sound so great.

But sometimes the artifacts you hear, such as in the case of 外来 for the simplified female voice, will have some “robotic” bumps to it which is arbitrarily determined by the TTS we use, and sometimes regenerating it doesn’t work.

Good news is, thus far, regenerating some of the ones you’ve reported here does get rid of the robotic choppiness.

Thanks for the reports!
