I like Mandarin Bean ([https://mandarinbean.com/](https://mandarinbean.com/)). They do have a paying option but you can get a lot out of free resources available on their website. A good place to practice freshly learned hanzi. One complication is, they use Simplified characters, not Traditional ones, like in HanziHero. But the differences between the two are not that dramatic, and many commonly used ones are the same in both versions.

Apologies: Mandarin Bean does have an option of alternating between Simplified and Traditional! Making it even more useful.

I don’t have time to study for hours every day, so I’ve made a pact with myself to do at least 15 minutes. Some days it’s just reviewing flashcards on my phone, other days it’s listening to a podcast during my commute. Watching a Chinese drama with Chinese subtitles, reading a news article on an app like The Chairman’s Bao.

To make sure I’m actually building a solid foundation and not just randomly learning words, I follow a curriculum. This is where a resource like [hskcourse.com](https://www.hskcourse.com/) has been a game-changer for me. The site is organized by HSK levels, and you can do online tests.
